When repairing tin bus wiring what is the recommended method for repair if there is one ?

Or should the damaged section of loom be replaced ?

Done a couple using heat shink connectors and been ok so far !

A length of wire would have no resistance (the guys on the national grid would love that to be truthful Wink ) As for soldered connections, when i look at most reliable connections, solder is used the most.

I love the connectors used by Renault for the CKP loom modification.

Solder within a heatshrink tube.

It looks and so nice when done and not a hint of volt drop through a joint all the same.

Only downside is they are sooo expensive.

For normal tin repairs solder method is fine in my stance - when done correctly and at correct spacing / number of repairs etc.

Cheers

David,
I know of a guy in Ireland, stuck in the center of nowhere, repaired a Scania CAN line with a piece of 240v alive+neutral twin cablew00t
Scania of course recommend a repair like to the vw ane posted here, but he had no option. This was around ii years ago, and it's still running with no issuesSmile

A skilful topic BD,
David,
Your right alot of the stuff regarding CAN is obviously hot air, particularly the twisting together to preclude interference.
Although at the terminate of the day, we take to practise what the manufacturer recommends, if nosotros don't, it's a get out of jail card, if/when it doe'south go wrong.

Regarding scopes, gotta say [againw00t], that i do honey my pico, and it trounces my old crypton 335BigGrin

Regards
